Moda Drei consists of four floors, two community chill-out areas, kitchen, terrace, laundry room and patio – and it’s your home away from home in Istanbul.
Cook, explore, watch movies, play games, mingle, connect, get in trouble, get out of trouble, laugh, laugh some more, and do it all in the most welcoming community in the most radical neighbourhood in the most exciting city in the world.
Welcome to Moda Drei.
Moda Drei is Istanbul’s newest, most modern and most exciting concept hostel, embedded in the city’s coolest neighborhood, Kadiköy’s Moda. However Moda Drei is much more than the sum of its parts. It’s more than a community, more than a family – it’s a movement.
We seek to capture the best of Istanbul’s rapidly rising young, liberal scene, let it envelope our guests, and ride it like a beautiful wave. Moda Drei is all about communal spaces and shared experiences: you might come alone, but connections happen fast. Our mission is to introduce you to a new way of traveling.
So get involved, be part of something radical. Join the Moda Drei movement.
You wake up to the distant call of the muezzin as seagulls wheel over the turquoise of the Marmara Sea. Rested under crisp sheets, your day will be full yet energizing, as you prepare to take in what the ancient city of Istanbul has to offer.
Your target is Sultanahmet, named after the graceful Ottoman mosque that adorns the peninsula. Across from it glowers the church of St Sophia, a miracle of architecture from the late classical blooming of the Byzantine civilisation.
This city teems with a character all of it’s own. It might feel hectic when you are wandering the halls of the Covered Market or pushing your way along the pedestrian street of Istiklal, but solace can be found on the waterways that surround the city.
It’s the neighborhoods that make a city. And in Moda, you can experience the best of Istanbul.
Located on the Asian side of the city, this corner of calm is fast becoming known as the coolest part of town. Long-term locals and new arrivals all share a common goal: to keep the old-school charm going while injecting it with a healthy dose of excitement.
Grab some dinner at one of the local raki-balik restaurants, which serve fish so fresh they may well have jumped out of the sea into the kitchen, washed down with Turkey’s national beverage, raki.
Get cultural and watch some arthouse films at the independent Rexx Cinema, or listen to the high notes being hit at the Sürreya Opera House.
Much more than döner kebabs, Turkish food has been influenced by over two thousand years of experimentation and cross-cultural pollination.
Rooted in the flavors of the Mediterranean, the Anatolian sun and fertile riverbeds mean that local, fresh ingredients make this cuisine both dynamic and homely.
Istanbul’s restaurants cater for all tastes and budgets, and it only takes a little research to find a place whose highly trained chefs turn out mouth-watering dishes.
Whether you are sampling an array of meats fresh off the spit, or choosing fresh fish as you sit by the Bosphorus, every dining experience captures the essence of this eclectic city.
